I emailed Roger Ebert about your blunder with Willy Wonka. Here is the exact reply, typos and all. (It's an Ebert trademark )

If Superman had been reissued in theaters, he shoulda slammed all the new theaters for the tiny screens they'd be showing it on!

Thanks for the update, Jeff. The mountain of negative publicity continues to grow for WARNER! :)

Guys - why are you attacking Warner? You should be attacking Warner & MGM/UA. MGM/UA does the same thing with their family releases.

Maybe Ebert should be attacking the lack of a spell checker on his email provider.

I'm kidding.
I'm VERY curious to see what Roger Ebert will have to say on this issue. Anyone know when the season premiere for his show is? (And please don't say "the Fall"!) :)

That great to hear, as Ebert is the head critic and usually people listen to him more then anyone else. By the way, Michael, Gene Sisko has been dead for two years or so now sadly.

Scott, it will air during the season that's not winter, spring, or summer.

Seriously though, I e-mailed him as well, and I can't wait to hear what he has to say on this INCREDIBLE fuck up!

MGM has never released a DVD in widescreen, discontinued it, and reissued it in full-frame. As a matter of fact, I believe this is the first time this has ever happened from any studio.

Jeff,
That's what I find most puzzling: release it in widescreen, then re-release it in Pan & Scan only? And don't forget that according to J.M. Kenny (the producer of the new DVD in the DVD panel at ComicCon) had a widescreen anamorphic transfer PREPPED TO GO!
I think that's what is the most confusing here.
Why? Why? Why?
