This movie is hysterical. Count me in for a future DVD purchase. And please Columbia, use the original artwork for the DVD. Do not change it, as it's really cool already. :)

Yikes! I remember this one! Believe it or not, my first exposure to it was in the High School auditorium, as it was shown for $3 a ticket as a fund-raiser for the Student Government to do some stuff. We all laughed our butts off; and I would love to have it on DVD!!! Count me in!

P.S. - this was Alec Guinness' film just before Star Wars! :)

A definite purchase. I haven't seen this in a while and I liked it a lot, but the last time I saw it I knew far less about classic detectives than I do now. Now that I'm familiar with Nick & Nora and the inspiration for all the other characters, I really want to see this again.

Oh man, this film is so friggen funny! Yes Columbia please consider this one!
Favorite lines from the film...
After almost being killed by a falling statue...
Peter Faulk "Your concrete christmas presant arrived about two seconds late."
And when two guests are being shown to thier room by the butler played by Alec Guiness...
Butler "Your the first people to stay here since the lady of the house murdered herself."
One guest "You mean she committed suicide?"
Butler "No, no it was definatly murder."

How about when one of the characters points out to Peter Falk that he has a bullet hole in his dinner jacket, his reply:
"You should see the other guy"

Hey, CTHV, you know why I want you to release this hilarious flick on DVD?
"Because your mother not here to do it."

Columbia apparently listened:
(from DVD File)
Columbia digs deep (09.19.01 - 12:16am)
Just announced from Columbia are four new titles, all largely little-known "deep catalog hits" (i.e., scraping the bottom of the barrel). On 12/18 Columbia will release Motorama, Murder by Death, The Scent Of The Green Papaya and the 1953 version of The Big Heat. The first three include anamorphic widescreen and full screen transfers (The Big Heat is full frame only), and all include mono tracks and trailers. Retail is $24.95, except Papaya which is $29.95.

dvdfile.com also reported a while back that there would be a Prom Night Special Edition, but according to the Anchor Bay chat earlier tonight, that was completely untrue.

Still, I really hope Murder by Death gets released by Columbia. I've wanted to buy this one for a long time on video but I held off. I just hope they keep the original VHS artwork. It looked so cool! :)

What's the link? I'm curious about this, as the original cover art was great. They shouldn't have messed with it.
