well let me introduce my self my name is Jordan i work at a car audio shop, and post on many car audio forums but i would like to learn more about home audio home theater type stufff.....
right now i have a small budget of 1000$ and for that i need a 5.1 setup geared more toward music and stuff for like party's so i would need the speakers receiver subwoofer and most of the wire i can get cheap so no big deal on that ... let me know what you think i could get i would prefer not to do a home theater in a box, or build with set up from scratch (as in actually building the enclosure and crossovers ) but to pick the best i can get

thanks
any recommendations would be great!

Well, have you listened to any speakers and find some you like? We have to start somewhere. You say you've got $1000. You could drop that whole wad on a receiver, or just one speaker, or get seven speakers, a sub, and a receiver.

Do you want to start small and add on -- maybe a decent two-channel system with a sub then add the surround later? Or do you want to get it all at once?

How loud does it need to be versus the quality of the sound? You can't get both high quality and high volume at low price...but you probably already know that from the car audio side of things!

I imagine you'll get some meatier responses soon, but I would say go to some HT stores, or the big box stores, and start listening to systems and see what you like.

I posted the below in another thread.

http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...rstanders.html

$399.00 a pair for these - with an available center that matches for $119.00. A good friend of mine just picked up an entire Level 2 system and loves it...

HTD Level TWO Tower Speakers

HTD Level TWO Tower Speakers

Yea - I was asked to put together systems for my friend given a $1000.00 budget (including powered sub)- and he wanted tower speakers, and that is the one he chose (the HTDs level two's all around).

I tried to use this form, and others for researching these systems. The HTDs have a 30 day trial period, so he would be able to return them if he didn't like them...After talking to him, they are not going back.

Here are the other ones I found that he didn't choose - even though he didn't choose them, why let my research go to waist...

Full towers, powered subs, - more defuse rear channels:
Home Speakers Direct

System Cost $899.00

Towers from that system are $329.00 a pair...

IF you like ribbon tweeters instead - Cost - 799.00 entire system
