Written by Kring, Heroes: Eclipsed is set years after the events of the original series as new evos are being awakened and discovering powers that will change their lives. Featuring familiar villains and new enemies who once again will be attempting to suppress this next step in human evolution, it will be up to this new group of heroes to save the world.

I am open to revisiting this world but I think this show has been a textbook example of its creators not understanding why it initially caught on with an audience and as a result, not knowing how to follow-up what was a truly outstanding first season. I’d love for them to catch lightning in a bottle for a second time, and I’ll root for its success and try out an episode, but I am sadly skeptical about whether they can pull it off.

I don't think the creator ever really understood the premise or concept of his own show.

I always felt that the strength of the first season wasn't so much in that season itself but in the potential of future seasons. Unfortunately, they never really progressed the premise forward, so we were treated to the same plot recycled each season. (Complete with the obligatory dark future X-Men rip off episode about 3/4ths through each arc.)

But quite honestly, I don't think Heroes can gain much traction in the current environment because it's a DC/Marvel wannabe. Why watch these knockoff Avengers when I can go over to Disney+ and watch the real Avengers?

Exactly. Even the last reboot showed they had no idea.

Total agreement.

Heroes arrived at a problematic time in television. Not because TV was so bad: but because it was so good. When Heroes premiered in September 2006, LOST's third season was about to debut (after a jaw dropping cliffhanger and an agonizing summer break), and Battlestar Galatica was also about to enter its third season (also following a crazy cliffhanger).

Can you imagine dropping into the landscape at that exact time?! And then utterly nailing it with one the best first seasons ever?

And then...well...everyone here knows what happened (or, rather, what didn't happen).

But man, fall 2006 was crazy. What a time to be active on these forums I tell ya. Some great discussions in the TV forum.

Heroes is a show I'll always root for.

^ Also, shows like Jericho, 30 Rock, Dexter, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip premiered alongside Heroes (plus the aforementioned LOST and BSG), and I had one of the most-packed "appointment" fall seasons in years during that time.

I’ll have to hear this is great before giving it time. I watched all of Heroes originally. It had good moments and great characters. But after the first season it never had the same quality of story.
