9:10am PST:

New iLife for 2009 includes new iPhoto picture organization, FACES
that can classify photos by a person's face. When it finds one particular
face, you tell the software whose face it is, then the software recognizes
and finds the same face in other photos.

iPhoto can also search photos with PLACES, and GPS Geotagging
by checking longitude and latitude (which iPhone photos provide). You can
even enter your own event location for photos.

* Google-like Mapping inserts pins where photos were taken.

* Features support for Facebook and Flickr.

* New slideshow themes featured as well complete with music. These same
themed slideshows also transferrable to iPhone.

* Travelbook feature.

* Contains a database of locations to help you geotag your photos.

The fact that I can geotag photos and upload them to Flickr is a definitely plus for me. I've always hated Flickr's own geotagging tool.

iPhoto updates sound nice. I was trying to follow the keynote at MacRumors.com and they are getting hacked big time. It's a nasty mess. :frowning:

Looks like some solid improvements to iMovie, addressing many of the complaints about the 08 version, and adding cool things like image stabilizatiion, animated maps, and themes.

If I can get my wife to use my laptop, she'll appreciate the Facebook "integration."

Hmm, interesting concept with the Artist Lessons in GB. As Engadget put it, kind of an anti-Rock Band. I'll drop $5 to get a video of John Fogerty teching me to play a Creedence song!

The Artist Lessons feel gimmicky to me, but it should help build a bit of celebrity induced excitement.

Very excited about the Keynote Remote app for the iPhone. I hope it works well because I plan on using it in some of my classes.

Apple introduces a web service called iwork.com

You can share iWork documents online between different individuals
who can then add comments/notes.

The application sends mail to the person you wish to share the
information with. Mail is opened with an attachment which opens the
online document. Several people can share the online document at once.
In FREE BETA at moment with eventual charge planned.

Wow! No new Minis. EVERYBODY was wrong. However, I expect we'll see those (and iMac updates) in the next few weeks or months.
