Is it true that this comes in p&s only!? This is a great movie but I don't know if I could handle having it in that dreaded modified ratio. Also to anyone who owns the disc: are all the features text-based or what?

The DVD presents the film in its proper full-frame aspect ratio. It's not pan & scan and it's not modified.
There is a half-hour interview with John McNaughton that covers the entire creation of the film. It's excellent.
There was a similar DVD put out by Cult Epics that included a McNaughton commentary. That version is out-of-print and I've never heard the commentary.

The reason I asked is because it stated that it was p&s not full frame on my DVD Profiler. I'm glad to know that info was wrong. Has anyone heard this commentary or any commentaries by John McNaughten? Is he good at commentaries (i.e. interesting)?

Brian,
I think you are correct. I went to the Cult Epics website and saw this:
• f69,95 • 82 minutes film / 25 minutes documentary • 1989 • Color • English Language • Not Rated
Director: John McNaughton
Emphasis added
