Spiro, it's hard to make a recommendation like this with no information on your needs, equipment, future plans or expectations.

The 3802 is a mid-line product, while the DSP-A1 is a flagship model (albeit a couple of generations old). The Yamaha has a lot more inputs and has access to some of the internal amps as well as pre-outs (the Denon has pre-outs only). However, it is not a receiver, so you will need to get a tuner, if you care about radio.

The main advantage to the 3802, as far as I can see, is component video switching. If the rest of your equipment has component connections, it would be a logical choice. If not, I’d go with the Yamaha.

    Regards,

i agree it is difficult to make a reccomendation no knowing what the rest of your system is especially speakers.. the yamaha is a bit bright for my likes, the denon has a more
pronnounced mid bass, I personally prefer denon products over yamaha IMO...
