Hey all, I'm going to upgrade from a 5.1 system with plain jane speakers on shelves etc. to a 7.2 in ceiling/wall. No biggie right? So the 2 subs (passive) require an external amp, 200 W each. So I've found a few amps that would work but... How are these amps turned on/off? They come with regular wall outlet plug ins, but I would prefer to wire them into wiring dropped down the wall. Being new to external amps, do they get kicked on/off when I turn on my receiver? Or do I need to run the wiring through a wall switch? Or are they typically remote operated, in which case they need to be exposed to receive IR signal vs my intended hidden plan.

Would help if you told us what these amps are...

Some amps have auto on/off.

Some have 12v trigger(does your AVR have 12v?)

Buying the right amp to "do what you want" is step 1.
