Help with Progressive Scan for Playstation 2 (1 Viewer)

I just purchased the component cables for PS2 and Burnout 2 says that it supports progressive Scan. I plugged in the cables to my Component input 2 that supports 480P mode and the picture comes up when I load the game but the indicator on the input does not switch to 480P it still displays 480i. When I do the same thing with an XBOX game that supports 480P (Which is most of them) I noticed that it Does in fact show in the upper left hand corner 480P, much the same as a DVD Player would.

Is there anything I should know about the way PS2 handles the progressive scan on these games. Has anyone ever actually played this or any other PS game on PS2.

TV is Mits 65"

Thanks

Matt

Did you try turning on (in the ps2 menu) go to System Configuration..... Component Video Out..... It should be Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr and not RGB. I had this same problem.. I am sure this will make it work!

I did make sure that was the case and it was already set to that mode. Thanks for the reply. Perhaps Burnout 2 was released without support. This has happened before where the boxart says it supports it but really doesn't I will have to check Acclaim to see if the game has it. For not I have decided to just return to S-Video for PS2 because it didnt seem to help the way it did with XBOX, even on non progressive scan games. In fact converting jaggies to hi res in most cases looked even worse. No offense I love my PS2, but HD is not yet implemented correctly on it.
