Help with Pioneer Elite 610HD Decoder Cartridge (1 Viewer)

Well, I talked a friend into buying a Pioneer Elite 610HD over one of the Mits. Now he is a bit upset with me about having to buy a $2,500 Pioneer Elite SH-D09 HD decoder cartridge for the set.
I got mine awhile back online for about $1,000 but I cannot remember where.
So if anybody knows of a good place on line to buy this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Why wouldn't he just get the Echostar6000 or the RCA100? Is there any advantage to getting the pioneer cartridge other then seeing the little "DTV" logo light up on the set?

Well because Time Warner has HD here in Houston and you get the HD movie channels and HD local channels.

It still doesn't make sense. Why spend $2500 (or even $1000) on this cartridge when you can get the same functionality from the DTC-100 for $500?
