I own a great pair of Paradigm Studio 40s and I have a nice Paradigm subwoofer as well. I am going to connect them to a new Pioneer Elite VSX 33 that is on its way. I am simply looking to create a 3.1...and....

....I would like to add a Center Channel Speaker but not for what a matching Paradigm CC590 costs ($900). I have heard great things about Polk's CS-20 Center which is much cheaper.

Can anyone advise me on what I can add on as a Center without it being an awkward transition from Fronts to Center. Thanks so much!

First, I would try it without a center channel. A 2.1 setup may work... at least it is worth a try.

Your center speaker really needs to be timbre matched to your left/right main speakers in order to provide a seamless front sound stage. The best way to achieve that is with a matching center from the same manufacturer as your mains.

Polk makes some very nice speakers, but unless they sound very similar to your Paradigms, you probably will not like the results.
