I know there's a mathematical answer to it, but I just can't figure it out. I'm sure it's so simple that once I make a move, he's already got me beat by the very next move.

Here's two hints:

1) work it out backwards to figure out the logic

2) cheat - open up two games, let him go first in one game, and copy his moves as you go first in the other game.

I was searching for an answer on the net and everyone else seems to have the same problem. Some of the mathmatical solutions were WAY beyond my knowledge. LOL - I'll have to try that.

Probably is some very simple solution to this, but I consistently lost.

Gave up and followed George's second hint, cheat....it works.

That's a fun game. Took me about an hour to beat him.
