Im finishing my basement with a theater. Will be a windowless part of the room. 17 ft wide, 20 ft deep, 9 ft ceilings. Can I get some input on good front projectors for about 100 inch screens. I plan to build my screen following the advice on this site. Im a newbie to the HT thing, so keep the tech speek low!

Best bet is to go to projectorcentral.com.
Some in that range would be the Sanyo Z2/Sony HS20/Panny 500.
Depends if you want a long/short throw projector.

I have read the reviews on projectorcentral. They are helpful. I dont see anything about throw distance. I think the answer to your question is im flexible with the throw distance. I will be mounting it to the ceiling, and space isnt an issue. If my mounting area is flexible, does throw distance come into play?
When reading the reviews- how do I decide if a 3-4k projector is better than a 2-3k projector? Do you just assume the price points dictate better quality? If I can order a proj the classify in the 3-4k range(sony hs20) for under 3k, assume its a good deal? It seems that many like this projector, so Im leaning this way.
