I'm trying to use Pronto Edit, but everytime I try to download a file, it's says that the Pronto is not connected.

But it is connected.

What can I do to fix this?

Joe,

Have you tried all of the obvious stuff, such as rebooting your PC, checking the serial port connection to make sure it's secure, etc.?

Can you upload from the Pronto to the PC, or is that not working as well?

You might want to head over to remotecentral.com and get a hold of the latest FAQ, which might also have some suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Good luck!

Hi Joe ...

Greetings from Wilmington -> Wilmington

I had the same problem. By any chance are you using your laptop from work running Win2000. If yes to both, your IT dept at work is probably taking advantage of the security settings in Windows2000 that block you from adding hardware and/or software that might alter the registry.

Like I said, I had the same problem. Still have no solution ... waiting for arrival of my new home computer next week with WinXP.

Hey Scott!
Actually, on a forum at Remote Central, a guy suggested downloading "Tonto".
It's another Pronto editing program.
Anyway, it works, while ProntoEdit still doesn't.
But, for the record I wasn't using a laptop.
You may want to try Tonto also.
