I bought this strictly on principle from Circuit City - it was an open-box buy (no manual, no remote) for $94. Was that a good deal?
Secondly, is there any way to avoid having to get the remote - i.e. use my Sony VL900 somehow to operate the unit?
Finally, any opinions on this unit? This is an older model, to be sure, but for $94 I figured it was worth a shot. TIA for any help.

I bought one from CC for $149, sold it on ebay for $500 and then purchased a DST-3000 for $400. I had no intention of using it to record HD which is why it is so valuable and I wanted a more up to date STB. I know it has an overheating problems that causes "blue sparkles" in the picture. Search at avsforum.com in "HD recorders" forum for more info. [IMG]
