I am ready to build my first screen out of blackout cloth, and I need some advice on screen size. It appears I can't go taller than 52" due to amount of stretch on this 54" material. However, I can go at least 96" wide on my wall. I know 16:9 size is 52"X92". My question is should I Make screen wider than 92" or leave it at 92"? Thanks, I want to build it tomorrow.

52x92 worked out just fine for my screen.

While 16:9 is the "widescreen" resolution. Most movies I have seen are in 1.85:1 (not 1.77:1) So you could try going with 96.2x52 if you wanted. Make sure you pick up some masking material though for HDTV and the occasional 1.77:1 movie
