Here are the ones I am contemplating:
Mitsubishi WS-55819
Pioneer SD-582-HD
Toshiba 57HX81
I have heard so many negatives about the Sony, especially that they are so pricy for a comparable product. I am looking to spend about $3,700 or so. If someone could give praise, comments, things to watch for, it would be greatly appreaciated.

I also checked out all these before buying. I went with the Toshiba, not the one on you list but the 65H80. Go with the Toshiba, you wont regret it and you will be tatally under your budget. Good luck on what ever you decide.

I went with the Toshiba 56H80. I have had it about 3 weeks now. Got the alignment also. Picture looks great and we are both happy with the unit

For what it's worth, wwww.onecall.com is advertising the TW56H80 for under $2400. That's a pretty damn good price. I have the TW65X81 equipped with a HD signal from Dish Network and I couldn't be happier. Toshiba is definitely the way to go.

I would definitely buy the Toshiba 57HX81. If you have the money and wish to wait till it's available, IMO, it would be well worth it. I have the 57H81 and love it. I was going to get the 57HX81, but getting it at price I could afford was not to be, so, I got the 57H81. I got the 57H81 at Onecall.com for $2699, delivered to my door.

OT, but what is the difference between the HX's and the H's for the Toshiba (eg. 57HX81 vx 57H81)? I looked at them both on Toshiba's site, but there was very little difference between the descriptions, nothing that I could see would warrent paying more money for the HX or even having an HX line. I'm sure there's something that I'm missing. Thanks!

To answer your question Scott, I've been demoing RP's lately and absolutely love the Toshibas. I've spent most of my time looking at the 56 & 65H80, but hope to demo an H81 soon. They look great!

I've got a 2000 Mits WS-65905 and a 2001 Mits WS-55807.
I love them both! The 2001 has a few nice small features the older one doesn't. I have had zero problems with them. The Mits are highly 'tweakable', see Home Theater Spot, and the 3 year warranty is nice.
I got the 55807 for $2699 delivered from ABTelectronics.com but they were close to me.
