I recently purchased a DVD on eBay that looks pretty good and plays ok but something just doesn't seem right about the weight of the DVD and artwork on the disc. Is there any information available on how to identify an illegal copy? What might really be great is if there is a program that would tell if this is DVD-R media when I put it in my DVDROM. I want to send it back if it's not an official DVD release and any info would be greatly appreciated.

It's easy to spot recordable discs just by looking at the playing side- it's usually blue (rewritable) or reddish-purple (write-once only). Also if the material on it doesn't fill up the entire disc, you can see the unused space as a solid color.
