Re: All About My Mother
From what I recall, if there is nudity, it is brief. I don't remember any...but there is strong sexual dialogue, thus the R rating.

Brook & Pascal, re "The Blue Angel", are you guys sure Marlene Dietrich's nipple isn't fleetingly visible, poking through that net-like shirt as she's fleeing upstairs at the end after Prof. Rath attacks her?
Love that high-resolution DVD format! ;)
(BTW, I'm talking about the English language version, which seems to have been transferred from a print that displays a greater level of shadow detail than the German version.)

Two English Girls wasn't really offensive, in fact it was quite tame for most of the film. It was only Leaud's voice over narration on how difficult it was to "deflower", as they were showing an innocuous love scene that I found particularly distasteful. Within the Truffaut, love triangle themes, I'd stick with Jules and Jim.

Thanks guys!
Brook: "And I think In The Realm of the Senses would be perfect for you two".
You are so naughty. I just downloaded it on DVD Profiler. She'd have my head off; both of them in fact! It sounds like a winner but I'll have to pass. :)

George: female robots should be just fine.
There is a very brief sequence in which the robot Maria (in human form) performs a topless dance in front of a roomful of leering men.

Her 'dance' consists mainly of shaking her breasts in a sexual manner...but she is wearing pasties!

Oh, and as for All About My Mother, definitely no nudity, but the language is very sexually frank, especially by La Agrado.
Pascal

Wasn't there some very brief nudity in the scene in the red district area where the prostitutes service their clients and in the scene when La Agrado is attacked?

A memory can be a funny thing....

Also I my DVD Profiler list that I forgot to post, I have:

Butterfly

Maborosi

"Z"

I've seen Maborosi but don't remember much. I think it had some brief nudity.

As for All about My Mother, the movies sounds intriging; if it has brief nudity, can someone give a description of it so I can judge whether to pass on this film?

You guys are the best!

I'll have to check those scenes again tonight. I just remember that they were leaning in or waving at cars, or otherwise were just walking around in skimpy outfits. In the case of La Agrado, the scene was shot uphill and although you see the attacker reach inside Agrado's clothes, there wasn't any real nudity. The only other "seedy" part of town scene that I can remember was more of a drug hangout.
For these three:
Butterfly - Cuerda film?, Montxo witnesses a sex scene
Maborosi - One "post" love scene, with a topless shot (although his arm may have been discreetly covering her exposed bits)
"Z" - no nudity, just repeated shots of Yves Montand getting hit on the head :)

Oops! Bill is correct about All About My Mother. While Manuela is in a taxi in the red light district, two or three topless prostitutes do briefly give "come hither" looks into the taxis. But yes, they are quite fleeting.
Also, regarding Maborosi, although she is topless in the aforementioned scene, the camera distance and shadows preclude the audience from seeing anything. Otherwise, the film is quite tame and Ozu-like. :D

Whoops you're right about Butterfly.
Al, looks like another viewing of Blue Angel is called for. :D
I would definitely recommend the Iranian films that are on DVD. Nothing even close to nudity in those as Islamic law wouldn't allow it. Children of Heaven, The Wind Will Carry Us, and Colour of Paradise (though I didn't like that one as well). The Circle was also recently released but I haven't seen it yet. Taste of Cherry is highly thought of, but I haven't seen that one either.

You can't skip around in Rublev! Better to see it as is, or not at all.

Passion of Joan of Arc, The 1928 none
The Passion Of Joan Of Arc does contain some female nudity. When Joan is burned at the stake, there is a woman who is breastfeeding her baby. When the baby looks up towards Joan, you can see the woman's nipple.

Scott-
I understand that your wife may be as beautiful as Cindy Crawford and that Salt Lake may not be as open to nudity as other areas but shouldn't there be a distinction between nudity for nudities sake (i.e. to get a sexual reaction from the viewer) and nudity for all other reasons? Have you ever tried to explain to her why nudity in and by itself is not necessarily bad? For example, I second everything said about Rublev and would hate for you to miss this because of some shots of female nudity. There is a very good reason for it to be there to show a counterpoint to what the main characters believe in. This can be said for many of the films discussed here that contain nudity. Another thought to ponder on, if there is nudity showing a couple after having sex why would it not be there? I myself find it increasingly difficult to watch a movie showing something like this while avoiding any nudity (you know what I mean if you have seen the things these actors have to do to avoid any vital body parts from being shown - real acrobatic stuff). Of course this is all entirely in your hands and for you to decide but I just couldn't help myself, especially after realizing that you are turning into a real movie connoisseur with some of the choices you have listed. So take a fresh approach to the subject and make an effort to educate your wife to the differences in porn nudity and certain film nudity and forever be a changed man. Best of luck.......;)

I'm going to have to second MartyD's suggestion - I hope that's not too bold.

Also, a favourite foreign film of mine that I recommend for you and your wife is the ever-heartwarming Salo about a fun weekend getaway with some youths - sort of like an Italian summer camp.
