Hi,
I'm new to this forum. I am about to purchase my first HT system. I have been doing some research by reading TPV, online, and talking to friends. I have narrowed my choices down, and was hoping I could get some feedback and advice.
I thinking about purchasing the following: RPTV: Toshiba 57HX71, DVD: Pioneer Elite DV-37, Receiver: Harman-Kardon AVR 7000, Speakers: Gallo Acoustics Nucleus Micro System. I must mention that my choices for speakers are limited because my wife wants speakers that are "small and cute." That being the case, I chose the Gallos. Another constraint is my budget of $8,000 (my wife originally wanted to spend no more than $5,000 but I pushed it up.)
Anyway, I would appreciate any feedback about my selections and advice about possible alternatives.
Thanks,
Vlad

show your wife the nOrh speakers. most women love them...they're also VERY highly regarded here. nOrh have -almost- a cult following. check them out: [url=http://www.norh.com

Look at the Harmon AVR 520 (just out - Link Removed
It's got 7.1 and DPL II.
Also, it looks like they have an 8000AVR due soon.
Though the 520 looks sweet....

Has anyone had any experience with Gallo. They look really nice but I wonder how they sound. I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet.
Also, I'd like some thoughts on the Elite DV-37 ($1000), compared to the Sony DVP-NS700P ($349). I read reviews on both in TPV. They seemed to like the Elite more.
Thanks,
Vlad

Just make sure they are not lacking in midrange. That's the common problem with satellite/sub systems - looks nice but sounds like there'a a sonic gap in between.
