A friend of mine here at work is having some computer problems with his home system. I can do ok when it comes to installing or removing hard/software but when it comes to troubleshooting I'm pretty much a novice - that's why I'm hoping someone here can help. He's running a P4 1.6 GHz with 512 MB RAM. He's got a 40 GB hard drive and is running Windows XP.
Apparently, when he tries to start up his internet connection (DSL) he is getting a SYSTRAY error. It reads: "Windows socket error: An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full (10055), on API 'connect'".
Once this error comes up he can't even start up applications (like Word, etc.) because of a paging error. Any suggestions as to what he could do to solve this? Thanks in advance.
