Hello, I am very new to DVD as I have just got a player from a relative this Christmas. I have been wanting one for the last two years though and I am very excited about getting one. The player says it plays Region 2 discs only though. My location is in the United Kingdom (in London), so is that bad if the player plays only Region 2 discs?

Is there any useful DVD website on the net where I can buy DVD's? It can be American or British also...

What are good R2 DVD's anyway?

Sorry for the questions but I still have a lot to learn...

John,
Regional DVD's (and they mostly are, except for Region 0) can only play on DVD players for certain geographic locations. I am a Yank, so my DVD players are Region 1. That being said, I have little advice on what discs to get.
However, stores in Europe (Region 2) should have all the DVD's you need. www.amazon.co.uk is probably a good resource as well. Hopefully, some local folks will hop in here and help you out.
Take care,
Chuck

I forgot about amazon... I've only ordered a few times from them, but have found their service great. There are also a few stores around London.
How many people in this forum are in the UK anyway?

John : No, its not a bad thing technicly that your player only plays region2 disc's. However, you are somewhat limited, since region1 offers more flawless, and superior quality dvd's. I dont say every region1 is better, couse they aint, but most of them are.
I dont know what kind of player you have?, but some players can be modfied with the remote, while some must be regionmodified, in order to play region1 disc's. This can be done at your local dvdstore.

I recomend play247 to buy dvd's from. They are cheap, and send fast.
