Will Young sang "We Are The Champions". He was the winner of a national 'talent competition' called "Pop Idol" (imagine Survivor meets the Backstreet Boys) in the UK & is now /incredibly/ massive.

Pop Idol is coming to the US soon. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Addendum, from a mate in the UK:

"Roger Taylor did the first song, then Brian May sang We Will
Rock You, then Will Young sang We Are the Champions, then the people from
the queen musical did Bohemian Rhapsody. There might have been another song
after Will Young - can't remember though."

The lead actor/singer from Queen's musical is Tony Vincent and his "partner" is the lead actress from the musical, they did "Rhapsody" (well, the main vocals. Other cast members helped do the opera section live.)

That rules out a LOT of top 'classic' music, y'know.
I'm not into classical, or if you mean classic as in 50s-60s or around, I'm not into that neither.

My 2nd criteria "Must write their own songs" is to rule out the Manufactured, given a record deal because of good looks acts... Except Boy Bands, which are ruled out even before! My 1st criteria being "Must be girls."

I meant 60s music. A /lot/ of favourites from that era didn't write their own music. You don't like it, fair enough.
