Hey folks;

I'm looking at two OK cards. They are about the same price.

Please convince me to buy one over the other.

Radeon 8500LE

VS

Radeon 9000Pro

thanks for the ideas.
Brent

As far as I know the 8500le is a slightly retarded 8500, which was, in its day, what the 9700 is today.

8500LE, it's cheaper and has more potential. It overclocks well. Have you considered a 9100 or even 9500 NP?

hehe,
the 8500 IS the 9100

ATI renamed the 8500 because it was faster than the 9000 which is a budget card (kinda like what nvidia should have done wiht the GF3 and the GF4mx, seeing as the GF3 is better than the GF4mx)

and I'll second the 9500 non-pro, by itself it is a wonderful card, you can get it for around 150$ nowadays. if you want to mod it you must make sure it's a 128mb NON-pro version, saphire makes them and googlegear still has them in stock if I'm not too mistaken. if the mod works you just basically spent the money of a 9500np and got a 9700np.

So the 8500 is still a good budget card eh?

Must be a lot better than the GF2 MX card I use now:)

hehe, if you don't list an exact budget then I'll say things like that!

yes the 8500/9100 is a great card and will do great for you. it is many many times better than your current card.

although, I do have to tempt you again with picking up the 9500non pro, with the mod it turns into a card worth 100$ more!!!!
