Help! I'm putting together a basement home theater with 7.1 sound. I have to make a quick decision on something.

I can purchase a new Marantz 8200 for $960 or a SR18EX for $1,440. Neither can be returned or comes from an authorized dealer. I'm researching them now but I wanted advice from others here too.

Are those prices worth the risk?

    Thanks!

Cambridge is closing out the SR19-SR14 and good prices can be had from an authorized dealer. I don't think it's worth the risk for that kind of $$$, and personally, I'd go for the SR18. A friend has an SR-19, and I have a 6200. The 6200 does an excellent job, but the SR-19 just has power to spare and sounds great.

In the light of problems with the x200 series,I would opt for the 18/19/14 models, those are all proven models!

Thanks for the opinions guys. I've decided to pass on both receivers. The risk isn't worth the reward in this instance.
