I need to buy some speakers that will be used primarily for 5.1 surround sound to compliment my 50" Panasonic plasma 720p television.
I've been looking at Aperion speakers because I've read good things about them and b/c we're looking for a nice looking natural wood speaker (cherry or similar). Realistically, I need to keep the price for the 5.1 system at less than $1000 (including tax and shipping). Furthermore, we would prefer to use smaller speakers.
The room dynamics: It's a 13 x 27 rectangle with 8.5 foot ceilings. The TV is on the 27' wall at one end of the room. Essentially, the system will be in one half of the room (i.e., about a 13 x 13 area "room" -- but obviously one side of the "room" will open up into the adjoining 13 x 14 area --thereby allowing sound to 'escape').
Given the above, I'm looking at getting Aperion's 422LRs for the left and right front speakers and rear surrounds]; 422-C

The 422s are appealing because of size. I could perhaps go with a better center speaker (e.g., 532 or 533 VAC) because I'm not as concerned with size of the center channel speaker, but I wonder if there's any benefit to beefing up the center speaker while retaining the smaller remaining speakers. Any advice on this subject would be appreciated.
Also, if you can recommend other speakers that might work for this application and budget, I would be grateful.
Thanks!
