2) a dozen marines or sailors, swim to an island, and Japanese boats encircle the island where the dozen land, and some islanders land on the island and take a message to get help
For the dozen people. A sub picks them up at the end.

The second film might be PT 109, but they got off the island by PT Boat.

Yeah, the first film is without a doubt except Robert Mitchum was the actor, not Clint Eastwood.
