So here's the deal. I went on a mission trip with a local church to Mexico and I agreed to do their video. They require a three song video. I have the first two picked and chosen and I'm working on them right now but the third one I do not have. Last year it was "My Weakness" by Moby but they want something different. I need the song to be very moving and very sad in a way but uplifting in a way. The closest thing I've come to finding one is "Full of Grace" by Sarah McLachlan from her "Surfacing" album but people disagree and say the lyrics don't fit well. Does anybody have any suggestions. I need this done in 24 hours so please reply quickly.

What's the theme? Is this a "goodbye I'll miss all of you" type of video?

Are you looking for pop, classic, single vocalist, soft. . ?

It's sad in the sense of "Aww. We're leaving the kids we love in Mexico and all we take back are our memories of them kind of sad. The video is an all encompassing snapshot of the trip. There are funny parts, there are sad parts, there are moving parts and there are uplifiting parts. I want to last one to be sad and moving. The tone is it's hard to let go because we love these kids so much but we have to leave and go home.

Steve Winwood - "The Finer Things"

    Mew - "Comforting Sounds"

Abba - "Arrival" (the chorale/instrumental piece)

    Charlotte Church - "Wave Hello"

POD - "Youth of the Nation"

Annie Lennox - "Into the West"

Dead Can Dance - "Don't Fade Away"

Judy Collings - "Amazing Grace" (might fit and it's a remarkably moving version)

P.S. - Saddest songs I know, short of "Song for Athene" by John Taverner (which is a funeral dirge), is

Puccini's "Libero e Lontano" aria from the opera Fanciulla del West

    and also

"Un bel di vedremo" from Puccini's Madama Butterfly.

Puccini had a knack for writing pieces worthy for the end of the world.

I think that Delerium's "Touched" (album Chimera) fits the required theme perfectly. Lyrics.

Buckethead's "Lone Sal Bug" (album Colma) is an another great fit. It's instrumental.

Oh, and Israel Kamakawiwo'ole is great.

Don't know if the group's name is up your alley, but how about "Always The Sun" by The Stranglers?

    Sincerely,

    John Kilduff...

A very Sledge-Hammerian response, if I do say so myself.

A bit angry lyrically, despite its' lovely compostion.
I love "Fragile" as a choice.

Tell us how it comes out. Working with the youth in Mexico is quite an experience.

R.E.M. "Find The River" last song on 'Automatic For The People'

    Hey now, little speedyhead,
the read on the speedmeter says
you have to go to task in the city
where people drown and people serve.
Don't be shy. Your just deserve
is only just light years to go.

Me, my thoughts are flower strewn
    ocean storm, bayberry moon.
I have got to leave to find my way.
    Watch the road and memorize
this life that pass before my eyes.
    Nothing is going my way.

The ocean is the river's goal,
a need to leave the water knows
We're closer now than light years to go.

I have got to find the river,
    bergamot and vetiver
run through my head and fall away.
    Leave the road and memorize
this life that pass before my eyes.
    Nothing is going my way.

There's no one left to take the lead,
but I tell you and you can see
we're closer now than light years to go.
Pick up here and chase the ride.
The river empties to the tide.
    Fall into the ocean.

The river to the ocean goes,
    a fortune for the undertow.
None of this is going my way.
There is nothing left to throw
    of Ginger, lemon, indigo,
coriander stem and rose of hay.
    Strength and courage overrides
    the privileged and weary eyes
    of river poet search naivete.
Pick up here and chase the ride.
The river empties to the tide.
All of this is coming your way.
