My secondary system (music only) is equipped with a vintage 1986 Kenwood KVR-A70R and it's remote has worked flawlessly since then.
Thing is, the remote is busted and I can't find any info on it or the codes.
Is there any CHEAP universal remote that'll remedy my situation?
How would I go about programming my system to do this?
    Thanks,
    Nathan

It might help if you state what product the Kenwood is. Is it a reciever, tape deck or what?

You may or may not be able to get a cheap universal OFA
remote that can control the item. If it's realy old chances
are there won't be a code in a new remote's code base. The
other alternative is to buy a Universal Learning Remote if
your old Kenwood remote works at all, and use the old remote
to teach the new one. Of course if you old remote is totaly
DOA then you are outta luck...

Go to www.remotecentral.com and post the same question.
If they don't have the codes or a remote to use, it can't be done.
    Good Luck

Try the Cinema 6 or 7 from One for all. These run pretty cheap (under $30) at places like wall mart and radio shack. there's an extensive extended code base for these litle wonders available at http://www.starbase314.com/RemoteCodes.htm

    Nathan,
Replacing a Kenwood remote with a universal remote can be a challenge, I don't know about your particular Kenwood, but I have tried to find a code for my newer Kenwood and none of the universal or the Digital Cable remotes will work.

Nathan & Sean: I agree that the One-For-All Cinema 7+ IQ series is the remote to look for. You can usually find it at Sears for $24 or so. The C7 is very customizable and users have even found a way to use a PC with it for programming and code backups.
(There was only one key for my Kenwood receiver that the C7 didn't know. And if you have the PC interface, there is probably a way around that too.)
Go to http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/index.shtml for some great info.

Alright, I may try for this cinema remote as I could use an all-in-one remote.
You guys think it'll work on my situation?
What remotes would you guys recommend under $50?
