it was kind of scary but it's a kid's movie from the 90s. the boy befriends some monster dude and they're in a house with some evil person and each door changes to another dimension like... open sky/clouds, or an ocean, or the desert/wild west
and the monster he befriends is trapped in those doors and trying to fight off the evil guy?? that's all i remember :-(
