Help hooking up Samsung TV (1 Viewer)

I just bought a 27" Samsung TV and Im having trouble hooking it up.Here is what Im doing:

Gamecube goes into receiver video input
TV AV slot1 is connected to the video output on my receiver.

I cant seem to get the video to work at all while its hooked up to my receiver(Onkyo DS494).Ive tried every single combination and it just wont work.Does anyone know what Im doing wrong?

Are you using a combination of RCAs and s-video? I have an Onkyo 575x and you can't mix and match the two types. So if you have a device connected with RCA composite and s-video from receiver to the TV you get nothing. You have to have all one or the other. I assume the 494 would be the same. It's been awhile since I encountered the problem but it wasn't a big deal because my TV has enough inputs for my devices.

No,im not using s-video.

Then my only other guess besides the jack being faulty is there might be some option to turn on video switching. Have you seen it work before?
