I'd like to start learning a little more about designing speakers before getting my nerve up to actually build a speaker. Can anyone point me to good freeware to download for starting the design process. Also any good ref's to read up on would be appreciated.

I'm sure some of these have been posted before but I haven't seen any in a while.

    Gotta start somewhere!

    Thanks,
    -Ken

Read the Loudspeaker Design Cookbook. Then read Testing Loudspeakers. You must understand what you are doing before you can make use of the software.

A good basic resource for calculations is ISDONLINE. I use it all the time for just a quick plugging in of T/S parameters to get a feel for enclosure size, etc.
They have a more detailed downloadable freeware version (WINISD).
And.. there's plenty of brains here at the HTF that can answer questions for you.
