"U99" Error. I have gotten this three times now (missed an episode of Lost from it!), within a week of owning it. What can I do to stop it? Should I try and go through the hassle of taking it back to the store?

Andy, there are a few people working on the TV Guide problem on the Panny E85H's on the Afterdawn forum, .. I'd post a link, but it won't let me yet, just go there and search for U99, it might be helpful to you. ... taking it back to the store ... hmmm, tough call there, if you haven't grown attached to it (like me), I won't be, but I'm going to keep on Panny till they fix the problem.

I would have no idea how to do all that stuff, sadly.

Does the TVGuide function still work?

PS: The Afterdawn forums don't have a solution to this problem either.

PPS: I should have done more research before buying this...[IMG]

To reformat the hard drive and re-initialize settings.

    1. While in HDD mode (the one where you're just watching TV through the DVR), push the function button.
    2. Click down to Set-up/Disc setting. Select Disc Setting.
    3. Click enter to format the hard drive. It will take a few minutes.
    4. Now click the Set-up selection. On this new menu, click down to set-up, then selection "Re-initialize settings". This will leave your current TV Guide stuff alone, but will reset everything else back to original settings.
    5. Turn the machine off, then back on again, and check your TV Guide and recording schedule. Everything should still be there, and you should not see the U99 again.

    Andrew,

I wouldn't go througg all that yet, give it a littel while. The folks over on Afterdawn are all conversing with a lady at Gemstar (TVGuide), it appears we are making some head-way.

Don't give up on the Panny yet, when it's working, it's better than sliced bread. My wife hates it in a way, we had 2 weeks worth of recordings from a show that's on daily, she said "how are we supposed to watch all that!!" I said "we don't have to, just erase most of them, and watch the last few to catch up".

Other than the current problems with the TVGOS, it's great.

    Paul
