Hello all,

Forgive me if I ask something thats been covered a hundred times.

I recently received a portable DVD player. I was less than satisfied with the video quality. Needless to say that for $400 I am going to return it and have started wondewring if I can come close to that price in a DVD/laptop combo? Or at least within a couple hundred dollars more.

The choices for portable DVD players seem pitful and way over priced. I thought I could kill 2 birds with one stone by getting a laptop that wiull obviouslky have other uses.

Thansk for any help here.

Hi there, Father John. I've always cringed at the prices being charged for dedicated portable players too (though the sticker shock is not as bad as when the machines first hit the market). Even still, a laptop, assuming the monitor that comes with it is good, seems more practical. After all, in addition to playing discs it can, well, compute. JB
