Hi,
Can you help me?!! I have bought a new Pc with Windows ME. Everything is running smoothly except for one thing:
Whenever i try to download a mp3 from a webpage, either it doesn't open the page or it displays the usual "the page cannot be displayed" thing. Am i doing something wrong? I think it only happens when i try to download mp3 files, because i have already downloaded applications and had no problems doing it. Never had this problem on my old (very old - Pentium 120) Pc.
Can you help me?
Regards, Wolverine

How are you trying to download the file?
Try doing a right-click on the link and selecting 'Save Target As'.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the help. Yes, i can download mp3 files if i right-click on the link and choose "save target as...", but not if i left-click on it. On my old Pc, i would just left-click on a link and it would work. I've installed the Norton Anti-Virus. Maybe it altered something which prevents the pages with mp3 files to open and download. I don't know...
Anyway, thanks for the fast response Rob :)
If anyone has any other info on this, please share it. Thanks.
Regards, António.

Do you have a MP3 player installed (like Windows Media Player)? Does it work by itself? When you click an MP3 link on a web page MSIE runs the default MP3 player and hands it the URL. Perhaps that player is corrupted somehow and isn't running when you click on the MP3 link.

Hi Craig,
Yes, i have the Windows Media Player (and the Creative Play Center). It's not that the MP3 files won't play. I can play them on my computer. It's the webpages containing the MP3 links that refuse to open. Very strange. I've checked the security options on my computer and also the security options of Norton Anti-Virus and nothing worked. I can still download the MP3 files by right-clicking on the links, but would like to find out why all of a sudden the pages stopped opening.
Thanks Craig... :)

If the files are transferring via FTP, the server could be maxed out on users.
