I have spent a lot of time on this site, in the audio forums and today I am buying a new wide screen HD TV.

I know nothing about these so give me a hand. Circuit City and there 0% financing offer has got me looking. Sony, Hitachi, Panasonic. I don't know where to start.

Not looking for any audio features, I don't even need speakers but I assume they all have those. I just want a good picture that is reliable.

What about this Hitachi 57UWX20B? Or the Sony KB65WS500?

I don't want to spend a lot of time, Just need a good set around $2500.

    Thanks in advance,

    Tom Grooms

Thanks doug_B, I would never place my music gear in the same room as a TV, front projection or not. I love music and my audio gear has its own dedicated, acoustically treated room.

You just bought yourself one of the best sets out there right now, I've been reserching the latest crop of RPTV for 4 weeks and I will be picking up the same model at CC in a few weeks, maybe sooner, search here and at AVS and you 'll find lots of tips on how to maximize this set's picture.Enjoy

Intresting, did you get a service plan with yours?

I'm looking at getting the 65SWX20B, probably from CC.

The 65" looked so big in the show room, I cant imagine that monster in my theater. I am sitting 12' from the screen so that would be way too big for my viewing distance. How far away do you sit form a 65"?

I skipped the service plan. They wanted $300 for 2yrs, $390 for 3 yrs and $460 for 4 years. That's a lot of change! As a general rule, I never buy extended warranties. And if video is anything like audio, In 3 or 4 years, I'll want something else anyway.

You only need 10 feet from a 65", thats how far I set from mine. And believe me when it first comes to your house it seems huge. But after a month it will really shrink, trust me.
