Hello all! I’m relatively new to the forum but hoped someone here would have an answer for me. I’m moving into a new construction home in Los Angeles and in one of the living rooms I want to create a sleek 7.1 home theater system. I have all of the components except for the speakers and possibly a good sub. Because of the nature of the room, and just pure aesthetics I wanted (hoped) to have all of the speakers in wall or ceiling as to not look clunky. I was looking at the Bose 191 virtually invisibles but even Bose reps told me they were a poor choice for home theater and wouldn’t reproduce the lows accurately. IS THERE AN ALL IN WALL SOLUTION FOR ME?? Any links or suggestions provided would be greatly appreciated. My budget is under 10k.

Here's what I would probably get:

3 x B&W LCR8 for the front soundstage.
4 x B&W DS8 or 4 x B&W LCR8 for surrounds.

That would cover your 7.0 and you already list a subwoofer in your setup. I would not recommend an in-wall sub as you are unlikely to get very good performance. I would personally go with the B&Ws above. Once you've negotiated a fair discount you should have plenty left over to add an SVS or Hsu and still come in under your budget.

And, by the way, this would smoke anything Bose has ever produced.

I have an all inwall set up (excluding my SVS Sub). I have the NHT IW3s all around and am very happy with them. No complaints.

I would give those a look. Also, NHT just came out with the IW4s. I would have upgraded to those if the cutouts were remotely similar or the IW3 cutouts could be expanded to fit the IW4s. Unfortunately they can't be.

Out side of very high dollar inwalls, you won't get great lowend from them. At least not an impressive and satisfactory amount of lowend. So your sub will be a very important piece of the puzzle.

I've had very good experience with in-ceiling speakers from Proficient Audio. Good enough that if I was looking for in-walls I'd go to them first. They're a small company, you'll need to find a local dealer, and they will probably be an installation specialist.

Have you checked out any of the systems listed? I'd bet that any dealer who sells the B&W In-Wall system would offer installation. B&W's website shows three dealers in LA (all carry the Custom Installation series). I'm sure there are other dealers is the 'burbs of LA as well.

I just wanted to say Thanks to everbody here especially SethH...I went for the B&W's and I cant tell you how happy I am. I watched Batman Begins as soon as I had them installed and my insides are still quivering. Ahead Stero in LA ordered and installed them. I wound up going with:

3 X B&W FPM5 Flat 42" Plasma Speakers for front soundstage
4 X B&W CWM650 Surround back and rears

B&W ASW600 10" Subwoofer

I couldnt go with the NT signatures up front cause unbeknownst to me my front wall is concrete! Im so stoked and thanks for walking this newbie thru it! Here's some pix of my setup.
