This was a pretty good game.. but now that i've played through it once and know who the killer is... i don't see myself wanting to play through it again... or enjoying it as much as that first play through..(i avioded all on-line spoilers/forums/discussions on the game while playing)
Heck i haven't even downloaded the resure bonus content..
I agree. It didn't help that
I got the 'best' ending the first time. All characters survived, apart from the private detective/killer. I have to say that it was extremely satisfying to let the main characters, about whom I actually cared for, survived the ordeal and got through the entire experience better than they started.
The only way to play it again would be to have the most depressing ending, and I don't feel like playing the entire game for that. Maybe in the future.
I do hope more games will be made that are similar like this. There's a lot of different things that are set up similar.

A game that was very similar was Fahrenheit, also known as Indigo Prophecy for the PS2/Xbox...
If you have a 360 Indigo Prophecy is available for download as part of their Xbox originals feature...
The game is a little more "sci-fi" then Heavy Rain, but features very similar play/choices etc.
Here is a link to the Wikipedia article

Indigo Prophecy was made by the same guy as Heavy Rain. Sadly, IP got pretty silly/downright stupid toward the end, and it turned a bunch of people off. Some say that was the whole reason it took Heavy Rain so many years to get made.

It just seemed like to story was completely rushed at the end.. like the last hour or so..

I understand the joke you're making isn't aimed at the game in particular, but you'll probably be waiting for a while. This game is a first-party release, you're probably more likely to see it at $30 near the holidays (when it fulfills the Greatest Hits or whatever requirements) and then it will stay there for at least another year or so.

This game is definitely worth $60 to me, but probably at least $40 to everyone else. Maybe $50.

I wasn't really joking. If I don't buy another video game before playing through all the ones I already have, I may never buy another video game EVER. (And I'm not counting old PS1, PS2 and GameCube games that I've been selling off and trading away instead of revisiting.)

Does Dark Rain upscale to 1080i? I'm avoiding 720p games because they display as 480p on my Sony XBR... which is getting replaced next year ;-)

The box of the game says 480 and 720 so I'm guessing that's it. You can force the resolution of games on your PS3 by changing what output options are available when you set up your video output in the XMB. I remember CoD4:MW advertising 1080 on the box, but the game defaulting to 720 unless you forced it up to 1080.

Not if you are using component and your set doesn't take a 720p signal.

The back of the box is only allowed to say what the game ouputs as - but some that say 720p are upscaled to 1080 - example is Soul Calibur, most are not and thus why I avoid them :(
According to this link it does... but I was hoping someone can confirm:

Not sure if the PS3 upconverts to 1080, but I know if it doesn't my denon reciever upconverts it to 1080p :)

I picked up a Pioneer Elite 50" Plasma and finally have joined the HDMI realm. Pretty sweeet looking game, though I'm only on the 4th chapter or so (I got the trophy for being a Good Father before I quit)

I got stuck on the shopping mall level, where the father has to get through the busy crowd. I seemed to get further, then end up back where I started.

Excellent atmosphere in the game though.

Thanks for your help.

I need to get back to this. . .the brutally stupid torture-porn storyline makes me hesitate, despite the fact that everything else about the game is genius (especially if you're using the Move motion controller, which has a great implementation here). But I do want to finish it, just to see where it goes.

Anyone know what the developer is working on these days? I would love to see the same mechanics/ production values applied to a more interesting story.

They are working on a game called 'Beyond: Two Souls' which is due out in October. Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe have lent their likenesses and voices to the game.

Looks pretty amazing so far. You can find trailers on YouTube.
