I was a fan when I saw this in the theater and had initially preordered the blu ray later that year, which seemed to go through some weird stuff on Amazon. Eventually, my order was pushed back indefinitely and then cancelled. I hear tell that apparently, it was a MOD disc? Now, I'm kind of glad I didn't get it, because Gunpowder and Sky (a Vinegar Syndrome Partner Label) is putting out a limited edition of it that will actually show up.
In the hip Brooklyn neighborhood of Red Hook, single dad and record store owner Frank (Nick Offerman) is preparing to send his hard-working daughter Sam (Kiersey Clemons) off to college, while being forced to close his vintage shop. Hoping to stay connected through their shared musical passions, Frank urges Sam to turn their weekly "jam sesh" into a father-daughter live act. After their first song becomes an Internet breakout, the two embark on a journey of love, growing up and musical discovery.
Offerman is great in this as a more goofy, but still cantankerous, record store owner that manages to be different from his career defining role as the best TV character in history, Ron Swanson. Ted Danson and Toni Collette also appear in the film.
