This is a ridiculously stupid question, but I forget the answer: Is it in any way bad to connect headphones to the speaker out jack on a sound card? (Mainly, will it ruin anything?)

Just keep in mind that you won't get JACK volume by connecting directly to the output on the sound card. It works better if you have a set of speakers with a headphone output on them. That way you're getting an amplified signal to the 'phones.

Funny thing is, I had to cut my volume settings by half when I plugged in the phones, and I can never get a big enough sound out of my speakers. I think it's time for new computer speakers (or maybe to buy myself that CO2 I need to plug into my receiver... hmmm).
