Well guys, I'm mainly a car audio kinda dude, but I think

sometimes we all just want to lay back and listen to our

favorite music on a nice pair of headphones, and now I'm

really getting that urge.

I've been looking at either sennheisers or sony's.

My mind is pretty much set a pair of Sony MDR-F1's.

Any thoughts on these? Keep in mind that I do know what

to listen for in a good pair of drivers, and Im an sq

person. I don't know anything about headphones, so what

would be a nice cheap preamp to power them with, and

where would I most likely find headphones for the cheapest?

Sorry for my ignorance guys.....

Thanks,

Jeff

how much are you looking to spend? IMO, Sennheiser and Grado are the way to go for headphones (unless you want canal phones).

go browse around www.headphone.com a little bit...even call them (they are great guys) for recommendations if you're at a standstill with your decision. i personally have Sennheiser HD580's and love them to death. i run them with a headphone amp i had a guy on head-fi.org build me for $70. the sound is fantastic!

happy shopping!

Thank ya much Thomas......It seems that I'm leaning

towards the Sennheisers HD580's now.....

They're the same ones that Dan Wiggins told me to get...

As for price, the cheaper the better. I'd like to keep it

below $150.

Any more suggestions are welcome.....

Thanks,

Jeff

Bought Grado SR60s, best headphones I've ever heard for less than $100- and I've heard hundreds of pairs. I use these to MIX albums from time to time, over my Sony and Senn.

You should read through Headphone.com and the following forum for a few days before buying. Headphone products are as addictive as car audio and home theater/audio. Take your time and purchase once.

'phone phorum :)

I really like the Senn 580/600's. They are basically the same. I don't think you can wrong with them but you may want to have a 'phone amp if you run either set. There is a ton of reading on the headphone website that will tell you what to get based on budget, amplification, source and application of headphones (beach, jogging, HT, audiophile, etc...) I have no amp,
