    Hello all,

I am looking to buy a pair of headphones. I will have to buy online because my little town has crap. I do not want to spend more than $100. I have looked online at my choices. My question is, is there a lot of difference in the sound quality between the Sony and the Sennheiser when the price is about the same? Which are more comfortable? I will use these for video games and movies when the wife and kid sleep. Any help is appreciated.

Also what are your opinions on the Sony MDR-V6000 and the Senn HD500?

    Thanks

Check out www.headphone.com for good info, if you have not already. I own a pair of Sennheiser 497s and think they are great. Unfortunately I can't comment on the Sony model you specified. I did have a pair of Sony MDR-CD380s but they didn't compare to the Sennheisers.

I'm listening to my Grado sr80's right now and damn they sound sweet! I've had them for three years and they still amaze me. If you go Grado's, make sure you check the options for the earpads because some people need the softer pad for them to feel comfortable.

I can't believe you can get sound like this for under 100 bucks.[IMG]

I have some Sennheiser HD-580s and Sony MDR-V6 headphones. Both are excellent but excell in different areas. The 580s are more comfortable to wear for long periods but the Sony's block out all outside noise. I wouldn't give up either pair.

I got the 580s with an outboard Dolby Pro-logic decoder in a box set for around $150. I believe the Sony V6 is still available for under $100 and are a favorite for radio DJs and studio techs.

I just checked and both are available on eBay new.
