I'd appreciate input to help a friend select the best HDTV with these parameters-
-viewing room is dark, no problem with ambient light
-viewing distance 6-10', mostly head-on.
-narrow depth is important to keep viewing distance as noted
-build quality, picture quality, warranty are main needs
-will spend $5000+ for high quality
I've got a Sony 34XBR910, love it, so I may be partial to Sony but please don't hesitate to promote other makes.
Thanks in advance.

Is your friend willing to try Front Projection?

The Sanyo PLV-Z2 and the Panasonic PT-L500 would be perfect for a dark room. The Sanyo has a 3 year warranty vs the Pannys 1 year.

FP is no good because of the room setup...it's maybe 24x12 but tv watching has to be via the 12' direction...the tv can only go on one "wall" while seating would be 6-10' backed against the other wall...so the tv can be wall-hung, on a pedestal, or stand-alone. I figure maybe 40-45" diagonal is the maximum realistic size for this situation.
