I recently went to antennaweb.org to see what kind of antenna, if any, would allow me to get my local digital channels. The info provided there tells me that I am 60 miles from the towers in New Orleans, and anywhere from 65-70 miles from the ones in Baton Rouge, and basically tells me that I can't get digital channels here. It does say I can get analog vhf/uhf with the largest antenna and pre-amp. Of course, I'm not interested in the analog channels, as I get those from DirecTv. Is it true that 60-70 miles is just to far for uhf digital channels?

I'd like clarification on this as well. I qualify for San Francisco locals via Dish, but I'm 60 miles away from transmitters with hills to boot. Antennaweb doesn't even list one SF local in my area, and Salinas-Monterey (supposedly my locals via aerial) is on the other side of another set of hils.

Since they only carry CBS, what would he do about all the other channels?

Thanks for the info, Robert. Tall trees close to me may be my downfall. I think I might give it a shot. Would the Channel Master 4228 be my best shot, perhaps on a 30' pole? Also, what make/model would you suggest for a pre-amp? Thanks.

Again, Channel Master or Winegard. Not sure about model numbers though.

i just bought a 55' tower to install a antenna on. The network towers are 75 miles away and hoping for hd signal. I am looking at the winegard ant and preamp.
