HDTV and Progessive scan DVD Player Probs (1 Viewer)

I recently purchased a 4:3 hdtv and today I brought home a progressive scan dvd player to try out. I connected the progressive scan component outputs to the hidef inputs and when played the movie of the night picture on the tv kept going blank every so often. Does anyone have an idea to whats the problem?

Billy,
What brand and model number is your 4/3 HDTV? If it's an Hitachi FDX01 or SDX01 model there was a problem with them blanking out when fed progressive scan signals from some dvd players. Hitachi issued a service bulletin on the problem, so if you have a Hitachi set you should be able to get this fixed under warranty.

Actually the tv is a Zenith model.
