I am looking to buy our first HDTV.
(I know, I know....)
Room sze is 10 x 11, with curtains over windows and sound panels in all corners and in refelctive mirror locations.
Speaker system is the velodyne spl series with a velodyne cht 10 sub and a panny xr50 receiever.
I am looking for tube because of room size.
Considering a Sony xbr 34 inch.
Recommendations on saving me some bucks greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
:D

I've got last years sony hs510 34" model and I love it. The XBR is a pretty amazing set once you fiddle with the settings on it - it would be hard to beat unless you bought a lower priced set and had it professionally calibrated. That said, mine is not professionally calibrated but is with Avia and it looks pretty darn good. FAR better than any non-HD set. I picked up mine during a sale at Good Guys for $1k. Unbelievable. Needless to say, "lower-end" sony sets are very nice as well as is the Panasonic 34" - friend of mine has one and he got it for $1200. If you just look around and be patient something should fall right into your lap.
