I just finished watching charlies angles in HD with 5.1 audio, via my new SA explorer 3100HD cable box!
time warner tampa bay has finally stepped up and has begun the rollout of HD STB's to consumers!
picture is nice (comments on HBO's cropping withheld [IMG] )
    sound was fine.
they are sending out hbo and showtime currently, but they tell me that local network programming is "comming soon" along with other hd feeds like discovery channel.
    whoppee! i have HD cable!

    Rich,

I have Time Warner HD here in Raleigh. I've had it for about 4 months and the programming that is in actual HD is stunning! There are 5 local stations with HD channels and then HBO and Showtime.

What are the actual test channel numbers that you are referring to? I would like to see if I can get them here.

    Good luck!

    Lucky bastards...
I called my local Time Warner, and the tech thought that it would be at least a couple of years before we get HD [IMG]

They are supposedly implementing HD cable at Time Warner San Diego in the second quarter of this year. From what I understand from talking to people in TW San Diego, TW-AOL is starting to take HD cable rollout more seriously and they are becoming more aggressive about it. I am hoping to get my HD box in April-May.

for what its worth, the TW guys over here have been telling me its "our next project" or "its right arround the corner" since mid '99 when they first started testing in the area.

Do these boxes do 3:2 pulldown?

If I'm not mistaken, HD is a 1080interlaced pic. NOT progressive, therefore there is no putting of fields together, hence no need to do 3:2 pulldown to combine fields. If I'm wrong, let the flames begin!!!!

Sorry, what I ment was on the the non-hd channels(which is the majority, right now)does the box have an internal line doubler with 3:2 pulldown?
