Given the need for high quality Home Theater grade speakers when using a television such as the Sony HD KV36HS420 would it be practical to replace the original speakers with high performance units? Two major benefits would be space conservation and looks.

    Your critique please.

No, because they are only getting 10watts of power so replacing the speakers isn't going to do much if anything. Not worth voiding your warranty over. Replacing a 2"-3" driver with another 2"-3" driver isn't going to give you a great sound improvement.

The drivers in there are tailored to work with the amp providing them power and crossover if any. Dropping high quality units in there will likely overwork the amp and fry the speakers. Not to meniton the cabinet in a TV is not going to give you the best response from better drivers.

I have a KV34HS510 and it pumps out quite a bit of sound on it's own, to the point I don't have it connected to my receiver for TV viewing.
