Hello, I recently purchased a Samsung HD-960 dvd player. This is one of the first units to up-conv to 1080p and let me tell you it is worth every cent, at a modest price as well, check one out! Anyway, my ???? is would it be the same concept to watch HD dvd's on the unit, will it up-code since it is 1080p, true hi-def??? Or do I have to purchase a seperate HD dvd player to see these HD dvd's??? Hope everyone understands my question. Please Advise?

    Thanks,
    G.

This player simply upconverts regular standard definition (480p) DVD's to 1080p. It cannot play native high resolution HD-DVDs and/or Blu-ray discs.

You have to own a player that actually has a HD-DVD and/or Blu-ray logo on it in order to play one of those types of discs.

(And if you purchased this from Circuit City and the salesman told you it could play HD-DVD discs, then you should take it back.)

No, as stated, that is not an HD-DVD player. It is just a regular DVD player that upconverts.
