HD DVD player's upconversion quality? (1 Viewer)

Apparently, the decoders in the Toshiba are supposed to be first-rate. If you are using the 5.1 analog connections, then those decoders come into play. I don't know if that would explain it. I am using the coaxial connection, so my reciever is doing the decoding.

the upconversion of the Toshiba HD DVD player is among the best that I've encountered... near HTPC like, and more detailed and film-like than that of my Oppo upconverting DVD player.

I'm *very* impressed with the upconversion of SD DVD disc to 1080i on the Tosh player.
